Cougars Runaway with Game vs SWTJC

Beeville, Tx- On Saturday, January 19th, The Coastal Bend Men's Basketbal program hosted Southwest Texas Junior College for an afternoon affair. The Cougars would compete in their first game away from Region XIV Conference play, since late November. 

The Cougars would pounce on the Cowboys early by using their size to their advantge along with fast paced play and stiffling defense. Coastal Bend took the halfitme lead, 60-30 over SWTJC. 

In the second half, it was more of the same display, as CBC would continue to shoot at a high percentage. CBC wound up winning the game with the final score of 130-61. The Cougars hit 59 percent from the field and 41.6 percent from beyond the arc for the contest. Coastal Bend also recorded 34 assists as a team and 17 steals. 

CBC Guards, Royce Hunter and Bernard Randle lead the team in scoring with 23 points each. Hunter finished the contest with five rebounds, three assists and three steals to his name. Randle added four rebounds and four assists in contribution to the Cougars big win. Eric Porter shot a blistering 70 percent from the field, going four of seven from deep to net 18 points. Porter also snagged down five rebounds and dished out five assists. Guard, Charles Callier filled up his stat line with 13 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals. Point Guard, Brian Payton poured in 12 points to go with his three rebounds and five assists. Forward, Daevion Paul had a nice game off the bench with 10 points, six rebounds and two assists.
