Beeville, Tx- Wednesday, February 6th, Coastal Bend Men's Basketball hosted Blinn College for a Region XIV Conference game. The Cougars jumped out ahead early in the first half. As the first half dwindled down, CBC only expanding their lead as they took a 42-29 lead into halftime. Coastal Bend Guards Gerald Thomas, Brian Payton and Royce Hunter did the bulk of the scoring. Hunter led the team in scoring with 17 Points at the break.

In the second half, the Buccaneers fought hard and chipped in to the double digit lead the Cougars had. Blinn did not back, and instead kept on rallying to take the lead. Blinn held a one point advantage over CBC with 40 seconds remaining. A foul let the Bucs increase their lead, 72-69. Coastal Bend drew up a play to free up Hunter in the corner for a triple to tie up the game at 72-72. With time still on the clock, Blinn had a possesion of the ball and took a game winning attempt, but missed. However, a Blinn player was at the right spot at the right time to hit the game winning putback. Blinn would win the contest, 74-72.

CBC Guard, Royce Hunter finished the game with 26 points, four steals, three rebounds and three assists. Gerald Thomas scored 19 points while recording four assists and four rebounds. Point Guard, Brian Payton netted 12 points, six helpers, and two steals.
