Coastal Bend Falls in Home Finale to Lee

Beeville, Tx- Saturday, February 23rd, would mark the final Home game of the 2018-2019 Men's Basketball season. The Cougars would host Lee College for an afternoon Tip-Off. Coastal Bend holding a 4-10 record in conference, looked to increase their chances of securing a Region XIV Tournament position with a victory.

The Cougars battled back and fourth in the early stages of the contest with the Rebels. CBC ended up creating some seperation from Lee, taking a ten point margain into halftime, 44-34.

During the second half of play, the Cougars built a 13 point lead. Then Lee slowly started to cut into the gap to get back into the game. The Cougars lead would be trimmed to seven, 68-61 with four minutes remaining. As the minutes winded down, the game became a closer contest. Lee wound up taking the lead in the last minute of the game to lead by three points, 77-74. Coastal Bend would fight hard to the bitter end, but shots did not fall for the Cougars. CBC ended up losing by a final score of 79-76.

Coastal Bend, Guard, Royce Hunter led the team in scoring with 18 points while collecting three rebounds. Guard, Gerald Thomas netted 14 points to go with three assists and two rebounds. Center, Elijah Moleon added 10 points and grabbed eight boards. Charles Callier contributed nine points and corralled four rebounds for the Cougars.

The Cougars fall to 4-11 in Region XIV play and 8-14 overall. Coastal Bend will be traveling to Port Arthur, Tx on Wednesday, February 27th for a matchup with Lamar State College at 7:00 PM.
