Beeville, Tx- This past Saturday afternoon, the Trinity Valley Community College Cardinals rolled into town to face Coastal Bend. The matchup officially mark the the start of Region XIV Conference play.
From the first whistle of the game, both TVCC and CBC fought for the lead. The Cougars and Cardinals took turns holding the lead throughout the first half of the contest. Coastal Bend took a one point lead heading into the halftime break, 46-47.
In the second half of the ball game, Trinity Valley was able to create some distance on the scoreboard from Coastal Bend. After a timeout, CBC would bounce back and trim the Cardinal lead late into the game. During the final minutes of the game, both teams continued to battle, each holding the lead momentarily.
Down the stretch, the contest became a free throw shooting contest. The Cardinals led by two points with 16 seconds remaining, the Cougars drew up a final play, but a turnover ended any chance of at least tying up the game. CBC ended up falling to TVCC by a final score of 87-85 for their first conference loss of the season.
Coastal Bend Guard, Emmanuel White had a game high 23 points while adding six rebounds, an assist, steal and block to his stat line. Point Guard, Lance-Amir Paul netted 16 points for CBC and dished out eight assists along with three steals. Center, Elijah Moleon fell one rebounds shy of a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds. Kendrick Christian contributed 13 points off the bench for Coastal Bend while grabbing five rebounds and three assists for the game. Maurice Taylor swished in three triples to add nine points for the Cougars.
Coastal Bend moves to 4-5 on the season and 0-1 in conference play. The Cougars will be back in action on Wednesday, November 27th as they will travel to Dallas, Tx for a matchup with Mountain View College at 7:00 PM.
