Cougar Basketball Has Super Tuesday in Region XIV Tournament

Shreveport, La- The drought is over! It has been a long time coming, but Coastal Bend College Men's Basketball accomplished a feat that has not been done in nearly five years to the day.

CBC beat the fifth seeded, Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers, 87-76. This victory marks the first win at the Region XIV Conference Basketball Tournament since March 3rd, 2015 when The Cougars defeated The Kilgore College Rangers.

To begin the game, BPCC led CBC by six points. The Cougars then began their relentless attack on both ends of the floor to claim the lead by 15 points at one time during the first half of play. Coastal Bend ended up taking a 38-34 lead against the Cavs at intermission.

During the second half of the game, the Cougars maintained the lead throughout the last 20 minutes of regulation. The Cavs gave Coastal Bend a run for their money late in the game by cutting the CBC lead to three points, and four points on different occasions. Fortunately, great coaching adjustments and team play on both sides of the court, the Cougars were able to put the game away to earn the victory and advance in the conference tournament.

The Cougars were led by Guard, Kendrick Christian who dropped in 26 points, a team leading six assists and corralled seven rebounds. Emmanuel White added 16 points for CBC, going four of five from three point land. Both, Lance-Amir Paul and Desmond McNiel tallied 13 points a piece to contribute in the win. Big man, Donovan Deal provided a much needed boost from the bench, chipping in nine points for the Cougars.

CBC's next game will be on Thursday, March 5th at 3:00 PM vs Blinn College in the Gold Dome at Centenary College.
