Beeville, Tx- On Wednesday, December 1 the Coastal Bend College men's basketball program hosted number 2 Kilgore college for their first region XIV conference game of the season. CBC fresh off a win from beating Dallas Premier Prep, hoped to stay in the win column versus the undefeated Rangers.
The Cougars got off to a slow start to begin the contest versus the Rangers. Kilgore jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the opening minutes and never looked back. Following missed free throws and some missed opportunities at the basket, CBC trailed Kilgore at intermission, 45-22.
During the second half, the Rangers opened up their lead and continued to score the basket in the hoop, while the Cougars struggled to get things going on both ends of the court. Kilgore outscored Coastal Bend in the second half, 47-31. Ultimately beating CBC by a final score of 92-53.
Second year Guard, Robert Gil lead the Cougars in scoring with 11 while recording a game high, six assists. Forward, Fabeyon Shelton knocked in 10 points for CBC, shooting 4-7 from the field. Off the bench, Robert Chapman tallied eight points to assist the Cougars in scoring.
The Cougars will now head up to Corsicana, Tx for their second Region XIV game of the season as they'll face the Navarro College Bulldogs. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 PM on Saturday, December 4th in the Wolens Special Event Center.
