Coastal Bend But Won't Break in Comeback Over Paris

The Den was the scene for the Cougars opening Conference game and who better than the team who beat them at the buzzer in the Conference Tournament in March. Before the game Interim Head Coach Brandon Martinez stated, "This one means a little more given that they have had our number the last two outings, especially how we went out in Tyler'.

The game started out with the Cougars down 17 midway through the first half 9-26 and it appeared that Paris was going to have their way with the Cougars on their home court. The style of play was much like before with Paris getting the ball inside and scoring with little remaining on the shot clock on each possession. The half time scoreboard had CBC trailing by 10, 30-40. "We had to make them uncomfortable. The pace they wanted to play was killing us slowly" Martinez quoted after the game.

The Cougars came out in a full court man to man press which distrupted the methoidcal flow the Dragons wanted to play. Not long into the half the Cougars had cut the lead to 5 then got the game back to even at 55 with 9 minutes to go. Coastal Bend would surge pushing the lead to 8 points as the final score resulted in a 79-72 victory for the home team.

Leading the charge for the Cougars was Sophomore Guard Jeremiah Anderson who had 20 points on 8 of 9 from the field to go with 6 Rebounds and 6 Assists. Caleb Hill added 18 points and 6 boards. Keagan Moncrief chipped in with 11 and 5 boards. Reyce Allen added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals.

The win moves the Cougars to 9-2 on the season (1-0 in conference) as they remain undefeated in The Den this year. CBC will travel to Bossier Parish for their game on Saturday December 2nd.
