Three Cougars Collect Region XIV Awards

NJCAA Region XIV announced its superlative award winners Monday afternoon with three Coastal Bend Cougars taking home accolades.

Jeremiah Anderson was selected to the All-Region XIV First-Team as well as the All-South Conference First Team. Anderson led the Cougars this year with 21 points per contest along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The Bronx Native took the Region by storm scoring 20 or more in 15 contests with his season high (32) against Navarro. Jeremiah led, in-conference play, in points (390) and first in assists with 104 dimes. He also ranked 3rd in steals.

"Jeremiah was a joy to coach this year and I can't wait to see what school he chooses to bless with his skill set and character" stated Coach Martinez.

Reyce Allen was another Cougar selected by the Region on Monday. Allen received All-Conference Honorable Mention after performing in all 30 games this year.

"Reyce was tremendous for us this year. Night in and night out we knew he was going to be a handful for the opposing teams to deal with. He's returning from an injury year but you can't tell with the way he's played and moved up and down the court this year. He began to look rejuvenated as the season progressed and really finished the season well" quoted Coach Martinez about his star Forward.

The Humble Texas native averaged 10 points this season while registering double digits in 19 contests. Allen also grabbed 6 rebounds a night to go with 2 assists. His offensive rebound totals placed him 6th against in-conference play (48). Allen's best performance of the season came against number six ranked Lee College posting a 21 point 7 rebound game on 7 for 8 shooting.

Caleb Hill was the third Cougar to take home an award on Monday. Caleb averaged 12 points a game, scoring in double figures 19 of the 28 games he played. He assisted on three baskets per night to go with three rebounds. His best night would come against Navarro, scoring 21 points on 8 of 11 shooting while going 4 of 6 from beyond the arc.

"C-Hill led us nightly with his tough style of play and his will to win. I'm going to miss his leadership." expressed Coach Martinez.
