Cougars Wrap Up Regular Season; Set for Postseason

Laredo, Tx-    In the last regular season contest of the 2019 season, the Coastal Bend College soccer team traveled to Laredo, Tx for the Region XIV Conference regular season finale. Earlier in the season, on August 30th, the Cougars beat the Palominos, 1-0.

To begin the match, CBC and Laredo both started out well, defensively. It wasn't until the 30th minute that the Palominos broke up the 0-0 score. Moments later, Laredo would again score off a defensive lapse from Coastal Bend to lead, 2-0.

During the second half of the match, the Cougars fought for possession quite often while attempting to get on the scoreboard. Shots on the goal were difficult to come by from the Palomino defenders. Both clubs buckled down in the second half as there would be no goals scored in the last 45 minutes of play.

The Cougars ended up falling to the Palominos, 2-0 to conclude the regular season. Coastal Bend posted a six win, seven loss and one tie for the 2019 season.

For the Region XIV Semifinals, Coastal Bend will host a familiar foe, in Laredo College on Wednesday, October 30th at 3:00 PM. The playoff match is set to be played at Cougar field, but may be moved to another location due to inclement weather in the forecast. Please stay updated on our website/social media accounts.

By advancing into postseason play in his first year at the helm, Head Coach, Adam Butler has now helped the CBC soccer program make the playoffs, in six consecutive seasons.
