Cougar Soccer Roars to Impressive 2-0 Start

There is nothing like starting your season off with a big win, but do it over a nationally ranked opponent; then validate that win, with 8-0 drubbing of your next opponent - now that is starting off HOT!

Which is exactly what the soccer program did this past week.  Due to travel considerations from COVID-19, CBC will be playing four contests at Waco ISD Stadium to save on travel.   The first of those matches was on Friday, April 2nd when they hosted - then ranked - #13 Northeast Texas Community College.  The lads wearing Cougar Blue would win the day making a 2-0 halftime lead hold up in the second stanza 3-1.   It was a "harry" win for the Cougars as a pair of Harry's did the job!  Harry Scott picked up the win between the pipes as he saved seven shots on goal and gave up the lone NECC score.  On the offensive side, midfielder Harry Garbutt converted both of his shots-on-goal.  Charlie Ward also scored for the Cougars and served up one assist.  Caio Oliveira also picked up an assist for the Cougars.

On Tuesday, April 5th, the Cougars equaled their most dominate performance in program history defeating Paris Junior College 8-0.  Alex Coreas picked up the win at goalie going the whole way and saving the five shots he faced.  Offensively, the Cougars were led by Sophomore Gabriel Campora who scored a hat-trick + 1, amassing a stunning four goals, with one assist.   Thomas Williams, Charlie Din, Ryan Lewis, and Owen Thomas all picked up one goal each.  Oliveira, Thomas and Lewis each registered an assist, as did Ross Murphy, Ajani Leslie, James WilsonNahuel Suarez notched two assists as the Cougar offense was in full stride.

CBC will play its first home game of the season on Friday, when they face the mighty Apaches of Tyler Junior College for a 2:00 pm tilt on Cougar Field.
