Men's Soccer Recognized with Four All Region Honors

The 2020-21 soccer season came to a historical ending at the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament.   However the honors for the program continue to arrive as Region XIV today announced the All-Region team.  Four Cougar student-athletes take plaudits on the team.  Gabriel Campora, sophomore forward, fellow sophomore midfielder Ryan Lewis, were joined by freshmen forward Thomas Williams and midfielder Caio Oliveira.

Lewis who hails from London, England, has now been named All-Region XIV for a second straight season. The team captain appeared in 15 out of the 16 games this season for the Cougars and contributed to the team's total of 36 season goals with three of his own and two assists.  Along, with Lewis, CBC's main goal scoring threat was Campora, who finished as the top point leader with 25 points (nine goals and eight assists). The Saltillo, Mexico native made his name known on the national scene as well, as he was among the national leaders in shots with 54. Coach Butler expressed his delight with the two cougar sophomores, "both Campora and Lewis have been outstanding for our program here at CBC. They have truly laid the foundation for future success going forward, I couldn't be more grateful."

Rounding out All-Region honors are two newcomers to the Coastal Bend program, forward Williams and midfielder Olivieria. Williams, the Chesire, England native, finished the season second on points with four goals and 10 assists. Midfielder and vice-captain Oliveira, from Espigao de Oeste, Brazil, was a presence on the field throughout the season, playing nearly every single minute of all 16 matches and helped the team with one goal and seven assists. "These boys have set the standard for years to come here at Coastal, we are excited for what the future holds and can't wait to get started this fall," emphasied Butler
