Cougars Earn Their Sixth Straight Victory

Beeville, Tx-  Following a few days from their previous match, the Coastal Bend College men's soccer program prepped for their contest against Paris Junior College. The Dragons entered the match versus the Cougars holding a 1-5-1 record on the season. 

The match had just kicked-off and within the first minute of the match, CBC Forward, Thomas Williams netted a goal to put the Cougars in the lead. Teammates, Owen Thomas and James Wilson assisted Williams on the goal. 

In the 32nd minute of the first half, Forward Tyler Stallard added to the Coastal Bend lead. Cougar Forward, Ivan Perez was the assist man on the goal for Stallard. CBC held a 2-0 lead over PJC at halftime.

During the second half of play, the Cougars had a few more attempts to score, but were unsuccessful. It wasn't until late in the match when Charlie Ward extended the Cougar lead off of a penalty kick. Not even a minute after Ward's goal, the Cougars struck quickly again. This time it would come from Ivan Perez in the 83rd minute. Nahuel Suarez made a great pass to Perez for his second assist of the match. 

The Cougars wound up beating the Dragons by a final score of 4-0. Goalkeeper, Jorge Ortega recorded a shutout for Coastal Bend with five saves on the afternoon. 

Thomas Williams became the Cougars leader in Goals scored for the season, with seven. Williams and Owen Thomas were previously tied at six goals a piece. 

The victory improves the Cougars overall record to 6-2-1 on the season and 6-2 in Region XIV play. CBC's next match will be on the road, as they travel to Snyder, Tx for a match against #5 Western Texas College on Saturday, October 2nd. The Match is scheduled for an 11:00 AM kick-off at Weaver Field.
