Three Cougars Ink Letters of Intent to Universities

Beeville, Tx-  Coastal Bend College Men's Soccer Program will be sending off three Student-Athletes to further their education and soccer playing career at the four year level. These three Cougars were a part of a historic year for Coastal Bend College Soccer that achieved a 10-4-2 record in the 2020/2021 season, being the only team to beat the eventual National Champions Salt Lake Community College. These three Cougars helped the team to a 9-8-1 record in their second season, helping the team advance to postseason Region XIV play. They helped produce a combined record of 19-12-3 in their time as Cougars.

CBC Center Defender and Team Captain, Charlie Ward will be attending Georgia State University where he joins the Panthers who are currently competing at the National Tournament. Georgia State is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division One (NCAA) and competes in the Mid American Conference (MAC). Ward competed in 32 games for Coastal Bend, scoring four goals and getting three assists. The soon to be Panther was an important fixture in the squad, starting every game he played during his tenure for the Cougars. The England native will be pursuing a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science. 

Coastal Bend Forward, Thomas Williams has recently signed his letter of intent and will be joining Charlie at Georgia State University. Williams competed in 33 matches for the Cougars, starting every game he played. The England native has been a key figure in the squad over the past two seasons, scoring 14 goals and getting 15 assists. Four of these goals came as game winners. The Englishman will major in Health and Physical Education at GSU.

Fellow teammate and Coastal Bend Goalkeeper, Harry Scott will be heading to Central Methodist University this Fall. Scott joins a prolific CMU team that has a combined record of 89-5-2 in the past four seasons. CMU  is a member of the NAIA which competes in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC). The England native was a key member for the Cougars as he competed in a total of 19 matches in his two year stint with CBC. Scott recorded 119 saves and a save percentage of .793 for Coastal Bend. The England native will be studying Sports Management for his bachelor's degree. 

Head Coach Adam Butler had the following to say about these star athletes; "I'm so proud of their achievements and all of the hard work that these boys have put in over the past two years. They made history at Coastal Bend and I know that they will continue to do so in their new homes."
