Steve Cummins has been announced as the new leader of the Cougar soccer program by Dr. Justin Hoggard on Friday.  Cummins who hails from Dublin, Ireland comes to the Coastal Bend after leading the Larks of Hesston College in Kansas.   "I am over the moon to be appointed as head coach of Coastal Bend College. I am very thankful to both the athletic director Paul Cantrell and President Dr. Justin Hoggard. Everything is set in place to be successful at this college. The standard of the team I am inheriting is quality and I cannot wait to get to work with them" exclaimed Cummins on his appointment.

"Steo has undeniable energy and presence to go along with his soccer acumen, and I felt that energy and spirit was exactly what we need to continue the progress of our soccer program," stated CBC Athletic Director Paul Cantrell,  "I am confident that he will inject himself immediately in to the Beeville community and the Bee County soccer community."

His resume includes successful collegiate stops at Rose State College, Southwestern Christian University and St. Gregory's University.  As a player, Cummins was a center-forward, at St. Gregory's earning NAIA National Player of Week honors while leading his team in scoring his second season.  He and former Cougar leader Adam Butler used to battle on the pitch during their playing days in the Sooner Athletic Conference.   Cummins had this to say about Butler, "Adam is a great lad. He has taken this program by the scruff of the neck and made it successful. He's made history here and it's an honor to take over from him. I want to continue in his footsteps while implementing my own style and hopefully taking the program even higher. I wish him nothing but success at his new college, until we hopefully meet at some point down the line."

Cummins holds a Master's Degree in Sports Administration from East Central Oklahoma University, and Bachelors in Criminal Justice.  He also holds his National "C" License and is currently completing his "B" license.
