Cougars Outlast #6 Apaches

Beeville, TX- On Friday, September 1st The Coastal Bend College men's soccer program hosted #6 nationally ranked Tyler Junior College for their Region XIV Conference opener.

During the first 45 minutes of action, both ball clubs battled for possession, holding each other to a scoreless half. The Apaches and Cougars were limited to shots on goal.

In the second half of play, it did not take long for the Cougars to strike first, breaking the scoreless match. Freshman Forward, Jaden McKree scored a goal for CBC in the 55th minute of the match as he was assisted by teammate, Antonio Gomez. The lone goal would be enough to take down the Apaches.

Sophomore goalkeeper, Ryan Walsh-Rowe had an outstanding game in the pipes, saving three shots on goal for the Cougars.Walsh-Rowe was credited for the shout out in the victory.

Coastal Bend Head Soccer Coach, Steo Cummins on the match, "It was a great overall team effort and performance. The work rate and attention to detail in preparation was exceptional from every player that competed in the match. We knew it was going to be extremely tough going into a game versus TJC as they are #6 in the country."

CBC men's soccer would like to thank all the fans who came out to the game, but a special mention goes to the Cougar baseball team who really helped the team get over the line with their passion and energy.

The Cougars will be back in action on Saturday, September 2nd for another conference match as they host Trinity Valley Community College. The match is scheduled to start at 2:00 pm at the Cougar Soccer Field.
