Cougar Soccer Handles Business On The Road

On the weekend September 15th & 16th, The Coastal Bend College men's soccer program traveled to play Northeast Texas Community College and Paris Junior College to try and continue their impressive Region XIV Conference start.

During the first 45 minutes of action, on Friday the 15th, the Cougars trailed 1-0 against NTCC. The had some good chance in the first half but to no avail. The Eagles and Cougars were limited to shots in the first half, and it was 4-1 in favor of the cougars, but they still trailed 1-0.

In the second half of play, it did not take long for the Cougars to strike, So Nagano finishing well from a Shay Prescod assist in the 55th minute. The Cougars kept putting pressure on the Eagles and missed quite a few decent chances to take the lead. It wasn't until the 76th minute for Raul Arranda to finish off a scrappy goal with an assist from sophomore forward Baillie O'Reilly. The game finished 2-1 in favor of the Cougars who tried to get another late only to be ruled offside a couple of times.

 

The next day on Saturday the 16th, The Cougars left mount pleasant and set off for a short journey to Paris Junior college. The game was a good game of football. The cougars started off very well in comparison to the day before and led 0-2 at the 16th minute mark with goals from Jaden Mckree & David Boakye. At the 20th minute there was a red card for either team for an incident from a CBC corner. Raul Arranda latched onto an Adam Murphy ball and got another before half time. The second half the Cougars continued to play their football and got two more goals. Both scored by freshman forward Jaden (Speedy) Mckree. Assists were by Reo Ichikawa and Keantre Gordon.

 

Coastal Bend Head Soccer Coach, Steo Cummins on the weekend, "We knew how tough both games would be over the weekend. Every Region XIV game is extremely tough. To get on the road with 6 points is a credit to the boys' hard work we've been putting in. I would also like to invite every member of Beeville and CBC to our next region game which is this Friday, September 22nd at 1pm."

CBC improves their record to 4-2-2, and moves to 4-0 in conference play.  The next match is will be played at the Cougars Den against Jacksonville College.
