Cougar Footballers Wrap Up Stellar Regular Season; Eyes Set On Playoffs

Beeville, TX-  As the regular season has come to an end and post season is on the horizon, Coastal Bend Men's Soccer Program set plenty of program records thus far. In preseason high standards along with difficult goals were set hoping that the men's soccer team would improve on last season.

After coming fifth in conference last season, CBC finished this season in second place, just missing out on first place by 1 point. The Coastal Bend Cougars finished conference play with a remarkable record of 10-1-1.

The Cougars set a new school record of being unbeaten in 11 consecutive games, beating #6 ranked Tyler and tying #7 ranked Angelina. Additionally, the Cougars won 10 conference games which made school history for the most wins in a regular conference season. Along with that the Cougars got ranked as high as #13 and Ryan Walsh-Rowe received National goalie of the week after 3 clean sheets on the bounce - racking up a total of 8 clean sheets this season.

The Cougars last conference game was sophomore day vs Texas Southmost College, where the boys dominated in fashion with a 5-0 win. Of the current squad, 12 sophomores were represented during this win with sophomores So Nagano bagging a hattrick and Jardel John scoring his 3rd goal of the season. Freshman Jaden McKree also got on the scoresheet, meaning both Nagano and McKree tied for top goal scorer for CBC with 8 goals apiece. As expected, the backline kept yet another clean sheet, putting them in joint first place for the most clean sheets in conference.

As we enter post season, the Cougars look to continue to build on this record braking season. The Cougars next match will be the Quarterfinal of the Gulf South District Tournament where #16 CBC look to claim a win against #4 LSUE at the Cougar Den on Saturday, October 28th at 1:00 PM.

After an impressive regular season, we hope to see as many of the Beeville community out to help the Cougars take down LSUE.
