2024 Coastal Bend College Soccer: Cougars Ready for Action On Soccer Pitch

Beeville, TX— As the South Texas heat and humidity surrounds the campus, anticipation is building for the upcoming season of the junior college soccer team. With a blend of fresh talent and seasoned players, Coastal Bend College Soccer has been gearing up for their Fall season marked by challenges, growth, and the quest for victory, adding to their success from the offseason and last fall. Coastal Bend also begins the season ranked no. 17 in the preseason NJCAA ranking poll

 
Team Overview:
 
The CBC men's soccer team kicks off the season with a mix of experienced sophomores and enthusiastic newcomers. Under the leadership of head coach Cummins, known for his strategic acumen and commitment to player development, the team has been thoroughly preparing for the trials ahead. Added to the staff this year is Vilius Labutis. A young, energetic, football fanatic who brings coaching experience from the University of Rio Grande. Labutis, 23, has a wealth of experience both playing & coaching the game and originally comes from Dublin, Ireland also. 
 
Strengths:
 
The squad features a midfield lineup that excels in vision, control, and dynamic playmaking. This group will be essential in driving attacks and maintaining possession throughout the season. With a robust defensive line led by captain Ulisse Alberti and new goalkeepers Billy Panter and Tim Teicher, the team is well-positioned to limit opponents' scoring opportunities and maintain a strong defensive presence.

- Ulisse Alberti: As a returning captain, his leadership and game-reading abilities make him a crucial defensive anchor.
- Jaden McKree: Known for his speed and accuracy, Speedy is expected to spearhead the attack and seize scoring chances.
- Yahel Paramo: Left footed wizard who breaks lines with passes and has a knack for scoring free kicks. 
- Juan Valencia: The determined midfielder will be pivotal in controlling the midfield with his relentless work ethic and presence.

The CBC soccer team will open up their season with a set of matcehs on the road in Brenham, Tx. The first match is against Hill College at 7:30 PM on Thursday, August 22 and will face Eastern Florida State College on Saturday, August 24th at 5:00 PM. Coastal Bend will be playing at Rankin Field on the campus of Blinn College.
