
Charlotte, NC- The NJCAA National Office announced that Coastal Bend College Freshman Goalkeeper, Tim Teicher has been named NJCAA Division I National Goalie of the Week for his outstanding performance during Week 7 (September 30 – October 6). In a dominant 5-0 victory against Texas Southmost, Teicher made 2 crucial saves out of 2 shots on goal.
Hailing from Ingolstadt, Germany, Teicher has been a standout player for the Cougars this fall, allowing only 6 goals in 10 games and achieving 32 saves. He has now recorded 3 consecutive clean sheets, showcasing his skill in the competitive Region 14 conference. His impressive stats include a save percentage of .865, ranking him 8th in the nation, and a goals against average of 0.63, placing him 7th nationally.
Head coach Stephen Cummins said, "This is massive achievement for Tim who I have been extremely happy with so far with his performances and work ethic."
Cummins went on to say, "This recognition is a true testament to how well we have been doing so far. Every player in our squad takes pride in this award for their contributions in protecting Tim's goal and Tim was the first person to acknowledge his defenders in front of him. We're fortunate to have 3 amazing goalkeepers who have been pushing one and other consistently in training to be at their absolute best."
Shortly after being named National Goalie of the Week, Teicher and the Cougars outlasted the Jacksonville College Jaguars, 4-0 to win another Region 14 Conference match. Teicher had another outstanding performance as he saved the only shot in the first half of a 3-0 game at the time.
The Cougars will be heading to Brenham, TX for a clash against conference foe, Blinn College. The match is scheduleded to begin at 7:30 PM at Rankin Field.
