Coastal Bend College sophomore, shortstop Mirella "Maya" Guevara was named to the Region XIV-South All Conference 2nd Team today by vote of the conference coaches.  She was the only member of the Cougars to earn All-Region honors.  Guevara was a steady defensive influence for the Cougars all season, shoring up the left side of the CBC defense.  It was her put-out last Thursday that ended the game versus Laredo Community College punched CBC's ticket to the Region XIV Championship Tournament.

On the year, Guevara hit a team leading .379, was second on the team in both on-base-percentage with .400, and slugging percentage with .529.  She led the Cougars with hits, 53; doubles, 17 and tied for the lead in triples with two.
