Coastal Bend Softball Surges Past Whitecaps in Regular Season Finale

Beeville, TX  On Wednesday, May 4th, Coastal Bend College softball hosted Galveston College for a make up game. A game that was postponed back on March 18th.  The Cougars crushed the ball to take the early lead in victory over Whitecaps

Coastal Bend College grabbed an early lead on its way to a 9-3 victory over Whitecaps on Wednesday. Coastal Bend College scored on a home run by Harley Escamilla in the first inning, a double by Makayla Wesley in the second inning, and a double by Juliana Dominguez in the second inning.

Whitecaps scored three runs in the first inning, but Coastal Bend College still managed to pull out the victory. Whitecaps scored its runs on a home run by G Guzman.

Tessa Ramirez got the start for Coastal Bend College. The righthander allowed eight hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one.

Guzman was in the pitcher's circle for Whitecaps. Guzman went six innings, allowing nine runs on nine hits and striking out two.

The Cougars launched two home runs on the day. Alana Benitez put one out in the third inning. Escamilla had a long ball in the first inning.

Coastal Bend collected nine hits. Dominguez, Yadira Lopez, and Ashley Patterson each racked up multiple hits for Coastal Bend College. Patterson, Lopez, and Dominguez each collected two hits to lead Coastal Bend College.

The Cougars complete their regular season with an overall record of 20-26 and hold a conference record of 13-11 for the season. Coastal Bend earned the 4th seed of the South Region in the Regional Tournament where they will face Bossier Parish Community College, the East Region #1 seed. The game will be played on Friday, May 13th at 5:00 PM at San Jacinto College Softball Field.
