Cougars Fall to The Roadrunners as Season Concludes at Regional Tournament

Houston, TX-  Following a heartbreaking loss, Coastal Bend aimed to get back in the win column. Facing elimination, the Cougars would go up against Angelina College for a midday game in the contenders bracket.

Coastal Bend College watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 10-2 loss to Angelina College on Saturday. Coastal Bend College struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing the Roadrunners. The Cougars also had a difficult time at the dish, offensively.

The Roadrunners took the lead on a single in the first inning and never looked back. Angelina opened up scoring in the first inning, scoring two runs.

Coastal Bend wasn't able to get on board until the top of the fourth inning. By that time, CBC was down 4-0, but trimmed the deficit to make it a 4-2 ball game. 

Angelina responded by scored four runs in the fourth inning. The Roadrunners then tacked on two more runs for insurance purposes, leading the Cougars, 10-2.

The Cougars fought hard all through the game, but were unsuccessful at the plate. CBC ultimately fell, 10-2 to Angelina College.

Tessa Ramirez toed the rubber for Coastal Bend College. The righthander went three and a third innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits and striking out two. Isabella Gutierrez threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Harley Escamilla, Alana Benitez, Yadira Lopez, and Juliana Dominguez each managed one hit to lead Coastal Bend. Escamilla and Lopez both collected an rbi for the Cougars. 

The Cougars season recently concluded, as they fell short at the Region XIV Mid South B District softball tournament. Coastal Bend went 0-2 losing to top seeded Bossier Parish Community College, 4-5 in game one and Angelina College, 2-10 in game two. CBC wraps up the 2022 campaign with an overall record of 20-28 and 13-11 conference record.
