Cougars Fall at Lady Texan Classic

Levelland, Tx-  The Cougars traveled to West Texas to tip-off their season for the first two games of the year. On Friday, November 1st the Coastal Bend College Women's Basketball program faced the #2 Nationally Ranked, South Plains College Lady Texans for their first game.

In the first quarter of the ball game, SPC was able to get off to a quick start as they led, 32-17. Turnovers and missed baskets hurt CBC from closing the gap. The Lady Texans expanded their lead with transition buckets to take a 54-33 lead at intermission.

To begin the second half of play, Coastal Bend continued to turn the ball over as their shots also did not fall. The Cougars scored 23 points in the second half of the game. South Plains ended up running away with the game, winning 121-56.

Freshman Guard, Jada Sheridan scored a team high 13 points for CBC while collecting three rebounds. Sophomore Guard, Marley Martinez netted nine points off the bench while dishing out two assists. CBC Guard, Jada Mitchell corralled a team high nine rebounds while giving out three assists to go with her seven points.
