Cougars Fall to Bengals in Louisiana

Eunice, La-  The Coastal Bend College Women's Basketball program traveled to Louisiana for a non-conference game with LSU-Eunice. CBC faced the Bengals on Saturday, December 14th for an early afternoon affair.

Coastal Bend began the game off strong, as they led LSU-Eunice by five points following the first period buzzer, 23-18. In the second quarter of the contest, both ball clubs continued to duke it out as the Bengals barley outscored the Cougars in the frame, 12-13. CBC hung onto a 35-31 lead at intermission.

To begin the second half of the game, the Cougars hit a scoring drought with only eight points in the quarter. LSU-Eunice ended up taking a huge advantage to CBC's offensive lapse, scoring 35 points in the third quarter. After three quarters of play, the Cougars found themselves down by 21 points; 45-66.

While the CBC swapped buckets with LSU-Eunice for most of the fourth quarter, they ran out of gas. The Cougars ultimately fell to the Bengals, 58-83. 

CBC Guard, Marley Martinez led the team in scoring with 11 points and three steals. Center, Essence Richards made her presence felt with nine points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots for the game. Cassie Hogan also netted nine points while recording three rebounds and two steals for the game. Fellow CBC Guard, Jada Sheridan gave the Cougars a boost from the bench with nine points, two assists and two rebounds. 

The Cougars will play one last game in 2019, as they travel back to Louisiana and face Bossier Parish Community College on Sunday, December 29th. The Region XIV Conference game is scheduled for a 2:00 PM tip-off.
