Five Cougars to Continue Education and Playing Career at Four Year Instituitons

Beeville, Tx-   Coastal Bend Women's Basketball has produced five student athletes that will be able to continue their academic and playing careers at the next level. 

Jada Mitchell commits to go play at Glenville State College in Glenville, West Virgina. Mitchell, a native from Houston, Tx played at Coastal Bend for two seasons.  The Westfield High School Alum appeared in 43 games fighting off injury her sophomore season to recover and finish her sophomore season averaging 13.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.  Jada scored 503 points, 220 rebounds, and 86 assists in her two seasons at Coastal Bend.  She will graduate in June and was an Honorable Mention All-Conference her Freshman season.  Congratulations Jada and best of luck!  "Jada could do a lot of different things on the court.  She was super special to coach because she could flat out score and make plays.  Jada has a fierce drive and is super competitive.  It was a pleasure to coach her these last two years and I cannot wait to see what her future becomes!"- Coach Purswell

Olivia Chisolm commits to go play at Arlington Baptist in Arlington, Tx.  From Pasadena, Tx Chisolm came to Coastal Bend in 2018 from Sam Rayburn High School.  Chisolm started and played all 30 games as a sophomore.  She left Coastal Bend with a total of 120 assists and 148 rebounds.  She graduated in May with her Associate of Science degree.  She has a quick first step and is very athletic.  Congratulations Olivia and best of luck on your next endeavor!  "Liv is the embodiment of a student athlete.  She just took care of business every day, with no complaining.  There is definitely more to come, and I cannot wait to see her success on and off the court in the coming years!"- Coach Purswell

Justiss Brooks commits to go to East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Tx.  Brooks will be starting out at ETBU on the JV.  She only ended up playing in 11 games before suffering a season ending injury.  The Round Rock native graduated in May with her Associates of Science Degree.  "She is a one of a kind, no matter what the circumstance she was going to work and smile through it.  We had to run her out of the gym sometimes.  There is not a single doubt in my mind that Justiss previous experiences will push her to new heights.", Coach Nate.  Congratulations Justiss and best of luck!  "The future is bright, and your work ethic will take you places that will truly lead to your success."- Coach Purswell

Aubrey Guerra commits to go play at McMurry University in Abilene, Tx.  Aubrey was torching the nets her freshman season before a season ending injury, which postponed her sophomore season until Christmas, but that never stopped her drive and passion for the game.  Aubrey shot 29.6 % from downtown in her two years at Coastal Bend.  Scoring 20 points numerous times and having a career high on sophomore night with 33 points against Paris, and also finishing her career with 475 points.  She finished with 46 games played and 41 games started in two seasons.  She made 99 three-point field goals while here and shot 85.4 % from the FT line.  Aubrey will graduate in June.  "Aubrey is a well-rounded player that can stroke the three and distribute the ball.  She is nifty and is a threat to do multiple things offensively.  Her ultra-competitive spirit and drive is definitely something that sets her apart.  She will not back down!  Congratulations Aubrey and best of luck, I cannot wait to see your progression and success from here!" - Coach Purswell

Cassie Hogan commits to Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Tx.  Hogan who is originally from Douglass, Tx arrived at Coastal Bend in 2018.  She started off her Freshman campaign by shooting 35.6 % from the three-point line and averaging 11.3 points per game.  Hogan finished with 63 three pointers made and scoring 464 points for Coastal Bend.  She played in 49 games in her two seasons.  She also left with 194 rebounds as a guard.  She graduated in May with her Associates of Science Degree.  "Cassie is the definition of grit.  Many times, she could have given up, but she continued to fight practice after practice and day after day.  She is a wonderful teammate and the player all coaches want to coach.  She is driven and will be very successful in life.  I cannot wait to see you compete at Sul Ross and finish your bachelor's degree as well!"- Coach Purswell
