Beeville, TX-  The Women's Basketball Coaches Association has announced the 2022 WBCA Two-Year College Coaches' All-America team that includes two Coastal Bend College women's basketball student athletes. CBC Sophomore Guards, Savanna Smith and Asia Wheeler have been named to the WBCA's All-America Team honorable mention. This is the first time in program history that a player has been recognized by the WBCA. 

The WBCA's membership is composed of collegiate, high school, junior high school, club, youth, national, international and Olympic coaches. Other members include former players, members of the media, sports information directors, officials and fans of the sport. The WBCA is committed to serving its members and helping to grow women's basketball by providing educational programming, networking opportunities, information and news, legislative and rules updates, and acting as the collective voice of the membership to the NCAA and other governing bodies in the sport.

Savanna Smith, Sophomore Guard from Houston, Tx- Savanna finshed the season 3^rd in Region 14 in scoring 16.4 points per game.   She also her ended her career as the Cougars All-time season points leader with 442 points and all time leader in points for a career at 816 points. Smith competed in 50 games for Coastal Bend, starting in 48 of those games. During her two year stint with CBC, Smith was named Honorable Mention both seasons. 

Coastal Bend Sophomore Guard, Asia Wheeler finished 3^rd in Region XIV by averaging 4.4 assists per game. Wheeler set the all time assists record at Coastal Bend College with 205 in only 47 games played, starting in 45 of them. The Cleveland native also averaged 10.4 points per game for the 2021-22 season.
