The Lady Cougars take down the Lady Jaguars in Jacksonville, Tx on Saturday. Thanks to another outstanding three-point performance by sophomores JayDee Zamora and Alexes Rocha, the Cougars went 15-44 from the arch. Zamora and Rocha combined for 11-16 from the three-point.
The final was 89-74 with a game that never saw a lead change after the tip. The Lady Cougars took the first quarter 20-9 followed by a very close second despite Zamora torching the net from the perimeter. The Lady Jaguars won the second quarter 20-19 and Coastal Bend maintained the lead at the half, with an overall score of 39-29.
The second half consisted of two very high scoring quarters for both teams and the lady Cougars managed to with both with the third being 22-20 and the fourth 28-25. Leading the team in assists, Eliza Rodriguez got a game high of 14 assists, and set a Coastal Bend Lady hoops record for assists recorded in a game.
"We can score the ball well. Lots of offensive weapons. Guards all around and all can shoot, and most can handle and drive. We turned Jacksonville over a lot. But in order to win we have to be better defensively. Our offense has fire power though. It's so fun to watch them battle and compete. They play hard."- Coach Nate said
The Lady Cougars move to 7-16 (3-7) and are eyeing the regional tournament. "We have a chance against anyone any given night."-Coach Nate said
